Radikal regional – das Berliner Restaurant GOOD BANK (“Radically Regional – the Berlin Restaurant GOOD BANK”)

At its central location on Rosa-Luxemburg-Straße, salad served to customers at Berlin’s “Good Bank” restaurant grows directly behind the bar – in pink-lit cabinets known as “vertical gardens”. Inside, the leaves are exposed to light of the optimal wavelength for growth.

The idea stems from Berlin company Infarm, which researches and develops urban farming in vertical gardens. On Mondays and Thursdays, produce is harvested in the Good Bank restaurant and sent directly to the kitchen. This eliminates long transport and delivery routes and reduces CO2 emissions. In this report, Zibb introduces the first Berlin restaurant to feature its own vegetable garden.
